Ashworth Bros - Chinese Pattern

This pattern was used by a number of different makers, often in a lustre finish. It features two women in oriental costume by a fence, carrying a plant or bonsai tree, overlooked by another woman seated indoors, visible through a window.

Although plates are fairly common, it is unusual to find a cup in this pattern. The saucer features an Indian Tree design in the same pink and green colours and yellow border.

	Coffee cup & saucer cup: 2.625 ins wide, 2.375 ins high saucer: 4.75 ins c. 1862-90 Impressed ASHWORTH This is the earliest Ashworth mark given in Godden's Encyclopedia of marks.
